Labour pained

-

Richard Leonard has axed two of his most prominent frontbenchers in a shadow cabinet reshuffle that has sparked civil war in the Scottish Labour Party. The Scottish Labour leader was last night condemned by fellow Labour politicians for sacking Anas Sarwar and Jackie Baillie in a reshuffle described by Mr Leonard’s critics as a “victory for factionalism”.

And about time too. We need some fire in the bellies of Labours frontbenchers in Scotland. These two have just been sitting back for a long time, doing very little and drawing their wages.

Sedov Trier That’s Holyrood for you. All of them, feet under the table, taking the mick.

Mike Allen Richard Leonard? Who is Richard Leonard? Is he the guy who stood for leadership of Labour in Scotland? Who

won that election?

City Loon There are several more Holyrood worthies that should be strapped to the ejector seat. It wouldn’t make any difference to the place. If Jackie Baillie and Anas Sarwar think the Scottish public will take-up arms over this, they are wrong.

Hoditanddodit Corbynisation striking north of the Border. Shame for Sarwar, as any time he was interviewed he came across as being really sensible and competent.

The only trouble is Momentum didn’t strike north of the Border.

They are striking now. Leonard was anointed by Corbyn and therefore Momentum. “Moderates” are in the process of being defenestrated and will be eradicated from positions of influence. Ultimately, that’s what Leonard is there to do. I’m quite sure the local branches are being well infiltrated.

The Zephyrus The Labour Party is imploding, sensible middle ground labour need to strike out now and form a centre left party. Baillie and Sarwar would be lying if they campaigned for Leonard and Corbyn to be FM or PM. Wake up and smell the coffee, the Labour Party has gone hard left and the centrists have been evicted.

Sky Go Leonard is wobbly on the Union and can never be trusted not to enter a tawdry coalition with [Sturgeon]
