Getting testy

-

Education secretary John Swinney has branded the recent Holyrood vote to scrap Primary One tests in schools a “disgrace” and insisted political foes don’t have the best interests of children at heart.

Unfortunately, many parents and teachers don’t agree with you and your tin ear, Swinney.

Is Swinney still in a job? Given the number of climbdowns and foul-ups on his watch he should have resigned ages ago. And he’s supposed to be one of the more competent ministers?

This 100 per cent proves he does not believe in democracy. Our MSPS voted him down and he complains.

Quelle surprise! John “I am right and everyone else is wrong” Swinney just keeps on digging.

Since the SNP came to power over a decade ago there are 3,500 fewer teachers in Scotland’s schools and Swinney talks about the interests of children.

Enough is Enough

My mum (primary teacher for 30 years) says she is not in favour of over-testing but that it is appropriate to do a benchmark test in P1 so you know the level the child is at. In her experience, children do not get stressed if it is handled properly by the teacher. Best if parents don’t know as they can cause anxiety. She never had a problem. Just told them they were doing a wee quiz on the computer. Lots of fun!
