The two most senior Tories in the country, Ruth Davidson and David Mundell, have threatened to resign if Northern Ireland is given special status in the EU negotiations.

@Davidtakers posted: “The worst thing that the prime minister done was to go hand in hand with the DUP, they are as bad as some of her own party trying to stab her in the back.”

@Thistlejohn quoted: “From the letter Ruth Davidson & David Mundell sent to Theresa May this week: ‘We could not support any deal that... leads to Northern Ireland having a different relationship with the EU than the rest of the UK, beyond what currently exists’.”

@Polhomeeditor reported: “Scottish Tory insider: ‘If anyone thinks Ruth and David care more about the Tory party than the United Kingdom, they are kidding themselves’.”

@Indyreftwo reacted: “Suggestions this evening that Ruth Davidson has threatened to resign if Northern Ireland gets a special Brexit deal. Resign from what exactly? She holds no ministerial office. Maybe she’s looking for an out as Scottish Tory leader before a snap election exposes the Ruth myth.”

#RICHARDMADDEN

Speculation is mounting that Scottish actor Richard Madden is set to be offered the role of James Bond.

@Adamtheolifotas posted: “Looking increasingly likely that Richard Madden is set to become the next James Bond. It comes as a crushing blow to Idris Elba supporters, who back the British star for the position.”

@Tonykent_writes tweeted: “My problem when Pierce Brosnan as Bond was that he looked like he’d never had a fight; a problem for an inherently violent character. But even Brosnan looks like he’d smash the tiny Richard Madden to bits.”

@Leiamurr wrote: “Richard Madden would be a good choice. He’s Scottish as well, just as the Bond of Ian Fleming’s novels is – it would be nice to see the series go back to it’s original roots.”

@Gseach said: “I’m 100% on board with this. Richard Madden excellent in Bodyguard. Brilliant to have a Scottish Bond again!”

@555Gdo countered: “Madden is too younglooking – needs to be someone who looks as if they have lived long enough to have been there and done that.”
