- By CRAIG STEWART

Tomorrow’s Irn-bru Cup quarter-final draw will be an eclectic affair with Championship, League 1 and League 2 clubs joined by a Colts team as well as Welsh and Irish outfits.

Favourites Ross County saw off Montrose 3-1 in Dingwall where Ross Stewart slotted the hosts ahead on 20 minutes and Davis Keillor-dunn doubled their lead. Craig Johnston pulled a goal back on halftime before Keillor-dunn reestablished County’s two-goal advantage.

Alloa are the only other remaining Championship side after their 5-4 penalty kick success over Dunfermline at East End Park following a 2-2 draw. Alan Trouten, pictured, shot the Wasps into an early lead but Louis Longridge’s double had the hosts in front just after the break.

Trouten thumped in an equaliser with 20 minutes left, with Aidan Connolly’s missed penalty proving decisive. East Fife shocked Queen of the South 2-0 at the Locality Hub Bayview with Kevin Smith cracking the Fifers in front on 34 minutes and substitute Anton Dowds grabbing the second in 78 minutes.

Motherwell Colts defeated visitors Sligo Rovers 2-0 thanks to an own goal by Patrick Mcclean and Christian Mbulu’s fine strike.

Queen’s Park came from behind twice to defeat St Mirren Colts 4-2, Lewis Hawke and Scott Mclean cancelling out counters by Paisley youngsters Sam Jamieson and Cameron Breadner before Euan East and Mclean, again, won the day.

Welsh side Connah’s Quay Nomads beat the nine men of Northern Irish side Coleraine 2-0. George Horan headed in on 61 minutes and, after Stephen Lowry and Stephen O’donnell were dismissed, Andy Owens tapped home.

A missed penalty by Sutton United’s Aswad Thomas sent Dublin-based Bohemians through thanks to a 4-3 shootout success following a goalless draw. lelgin City ran out 3-1 winners over visitors Cowdenbeath in a re-arranged League 2 fixture following an August postponement. David Cox fired the visitors ahead after ten minutes but Elgin were level 15 minutes later when Shane Sutherland scored. Darryl Mchardy put the hosts ahead early in the second half and Jamie Pyper Sutherland slotted home a penalty after goalkeeper David Mcgurn had been red carded for pulling down Greg Morrison.
