#SINEADO’CONNOR

Singer Sinead O’connor has converted to Islam and changed her name. The controversial Irish performer, known for her song Nothing Compares 2U, released the news via Twitter and revealed that she is now called Shuhada’ Davitt.

@Magdadavitt77 posted “This is to announce that I am proud to have become a Muslim. This is the natural conclusion of any intelligent theologian’s journey. All scripture study leads to Islam. Which makes all other scriptures redundant. I will be given (another) new name. It will be Shuhada’”

@Yasirqadhi replied: “May Allah bless you Sr. Shuhada! As a child of the 80s I grew up listening to your lyrics, & I watched live in the 90’s when you expressed your anger at the Pope for the abuse scandal by tearing up his picture! I always felt you were a deeply religious person. Salam & welcome!”

@aliamjadrizvi commented: “Sinead O’connor converts to Islam, dons a hijab, and sings the Adhan. Will there be no outrage over this brazen cultural appropriation?”

@Yassinebone said: “I’m very happy to hear Sinead O’connor, the famous singer from Ireland, has converted to Islam. May Allah bless our sister Shuhada and make her a role model for her people, and all of us.”

@Islam_tweeter wrote: “Nothing compares to Islam”.”
