#BUDGET2018

Philip Hammond promised a Budget for “the strivers, the grafters and the carers” as he set out his tax and spending plans in the Commons. In his last scheduled Budget before Brexit, Mr Hammond promised his proposals would pave the way for a “brighter future”.

@BBCNEWS reported: “‘Our NHS is the number one priority of the British people’ – new mental health crisis service revealed by @Philiphammonduk in #Budget2018.”

@nickeardleybbc added: “Hammond on Brexit: £2.2bn for Brexit prep– Firepower to intervene if economy needs support. Could be extra Budget in spring (upgrading spring statement).”

@hrmagazine tweeted: “Ending austerity is not just about funding public services, but about real wage growth and leaving more in people’s pockets says @Philiphammonduk #Budget2018.”

@jon_bartley added: “If the Chancellor wanted REAL wage growth he’d make the minimum wage a REAL Living Wage #Budget2018.”

@lyndafin said: “Funding schools for those little extras like a roof and books.”

@chloe__i posted: “I think my flatmates are very happy that I’m not there at the moment so they don’t have to deal with my ‘postbudget-screw-the-toriesrant’.”

#BREXIT50P

A special 50 pence coin is set to be issued to commemorate the UK’S departure from the European Union next year. .

@thom_brooks tweeted: “Putting “Friendship with all nations” on a 50p coin isn’t going to help get a new EU trade deal.”

@Redhotsquirrel commented: “A Brexit 50p to applaud the UK’S departure from the EU would be commemorative. A clean Brexit that enables our country to compete effectively with the Rest of the World (where 90 per cent of global economic growth is occurring) would be invigorating and worthy of genuine celebration.”

2010Leehurst posted: “They’re bringing out a Brexit 50p coin. It will be due out in one year’s time... Correction two years’ time... Nope, five years’ time... Hang on, my mistake it’s a euro.”

@Dave_loren said: “I genuinely wish this was an over-elaborate hoax.”

@jonathan_church replied: “How wonderful. It is all worthwhile now.”
