OUTLAWKING
The most expensive film ever made in Scotland, the £90m blockbuster Outlaw King, was released on streaming platform Netflix yesterday. An epic, bloody retelling of the battle waged by Robert the Bruce, the film stars American actor Chris Pine in the title role.
@Lituainach joked: “Thirty minutes into Outlaw King I can confirm support for independence will poll at 90% tomorrow.”
@Anjasumma revealed: “So not only did I get Netflix especially to watch #Outlawking today, I also took the day off. And boy was it worth it! I’m still shaken.”
@Ind3pendent7 added: “Outlaw King has been beautifully done. Clearly shows the difference between the 2 Kings. King of Scots not of the land. Endorsed by the people. King of England – feels entitled to everybody’s land.”
EUROPALEAGUE
It was another mixed night of fortunes for Scotland’s teams in Europe on Thursday, as Celtic and Rangers reflected on their Europa League matches. Rangers went down 4-3 to Spartak Moscow, while Brendan Rodgers’ side triumphed 2-1 over RB Leipzig at Parkhead.
@Dominikdiamond summarised: “Everything you could ask for in a Celtic European night: two teams playing good fast attacking football, decent ref, best fans in the world on top form, great win... and disco lights!”
@Stadiumbolt posted: “The atmosphere at Celtic Park, with the safe standing area puts to shame any club in the English Premier League – Like libraries in comparison.”
@Johnhartson10
added: “Well, what a great performance and 3 points that was. Celtic left everything on that pitch tonight. Proud to have worked on that one ! Just outstanding”
@Paddymccourt15 agreed:
“Massive result for @Celticfc tonight. Brilliant team performance & a superb response after conceding the equaliser.”
@Tenglishsport wrote: “A number of major performers in this Celtic performance, but Ryan Christie has been ridiculously good. Work-rate is massive. Blocking shots at one end and creating a goal at the other. Some lungs on the lad”
@Abouttherangers fumed: “After starting so well in Europe, @Rangersfc risk being knocked out after a shambolic defensive display against #Spartak.”
