#ARMISTICE

Armistice Day was marked across the UK yesterday, with events are being held to mark Remembrance Sunday and the centenary of the armistice that ended the First World War.

@RNLI posted: “During the #Firstworldwar, lifeboats launched 1,808 times and saved 5,332 lives. On the 100th anniversary of the end of the Great War, we look back at some of those heroic rescues and remember those who were lost #Lestweforget.”

@Historicacanada tweeted: “More than 2,800 trained civilian nurses enlisted with the Canadian army during the #Firstworldwar, becoming the first women in the modern world to hold military commissions as officers. #Canadaremembers.”

@Joanmcalpine said: “The names of all 134,712 service men and women who died serving for Scotland in WW1 will be projected on to @ Scotparl building from 5pm on till midnight Sunday 11 Nov. Fitting and poignant commemoration 100 years from #Armistice.”

@euan_wallace added: “Sitting on Sandy beach (wi’ ra dug) this #armistice weekend, listening to French rendition of #Scotswhahae (Marche de Soldat de Robert Bruce) thinking of the Orleannias and all soldiers since. thnx @billykayscot for posting.”

#BREXIT

Theresa May is once again under attack over her handling of Brexit.

@Emilythornberry said: “If Theresa May offers us the Brexit options of falling off a cliff with no deal or getting on a bridge to nowhere with hers, that’s a false choice Labour will reject. Because it’s our job to save the country from economic and social catastrophe, not to save her political skin.”

@Leaveeuofficial added: “We’re losing count of the number of resignations from this pathetically weak administration. One thing the nation agrees on is that Theresa May is not delivering what the British people voted for. She must stand down and allow a real Brexiteer to deliver a true Brexit!”

@Stop_the_eu wrote: “Theresa May likened to Titanic captain amid mounting mutiny over her Brexit blueprint. All hands on decks this ship is sinking!!” The @Libdems tweeted: “Jo Johnson is doing more to oppose Theresa May’s Brexit mess than @ Jeremycorbyn.”
