-

1 Scott Arfield salutes the home fans on Remembrance Day after scoring the opener for Rangers.

2 James Tavernier converts the hosts’ second from the spot after being ordered to retake his penalty.

3 Tavernier turns provider as Alfredo Morelos heads home his corner to make it 3-1.

4 Glenn Middleton is all smiles after netting Rangers’ fourth just before the hour mark.

5 A jubilant Arfield celebrates with Ryan Jack after scoring his second goal to make it 5-1.

6 Albanian Eros Grezda fires home No 6.

7 Grezda seals the rout with a kiss after doubling his own tally. of the weekend and other teams win it adds pressure and you have to handle that and cope. Over the weekend it’s been the opposite. Teams around us and above us have given us an opportunity to close the gaps and that really helped us before the game. We told the players there was an opportunity for them. We told them to put a performance in that showed they are desperate to stay in touch at the top.

“I said to them at half-time ‘we are 3-1 up, they are a man down, what are we going to do? I told them we would get opportunities to make the scoreline as big as we wanted and the players have delivered.”

Motherwell counterpart Stephen Robinson refused to use the loss of Mchugh as an “excuse” for an abject second half. Without directly naming Alfredo Morelos, he did though accuse the Colombian of “conning” referee Craig Thomson for a booking received by Mchugh just before he received a second caution for blocking a Andy Halliday shot with his hands up.

Robinson was sent to the stand following altercations with members of Rangers’ bench across these two incidents. “I thought it was a penalty,” Robinson said of Mchugh’s handball. “The letter of the law suggests he needs to be sent off. But the first booking is a disgrace. It’s embarrassing. I have to say referees are getting conned by the same people. He has to send him off after he has booked him, but he shouldn’t have booked him. Having said that, it certainly wasn’t the reason we went on and lost six goals.

“I think it’s best I don’t speak to him [Thomson]. Listen, members of their staff came up to voice their opinion, that was it. I was the only one who got sent to the stand.”
