Scots-born Asos chair to speak at key exhibition

The Glasgow-born chairman of online retailer Asos has been announced as a keynote speaker for the New Start Scotland exhibition taking place in the city later this month.

Brian Mcbride started off as a salesman for Xerox in Glasgow, later became MD of Amazon in the UK, and has served on the UK government’s Digital Advisory Board, to name but a few of his roles. He is currently chairman of Wiggle, the online cycling and trisports business, as well as of Asos.

Mcbride said: “As a native Glaswegian I am really excited about attending New Start Scotland on 22 November. I will talk about my career in the digital world where I have worked for and run some of the planet’s great companies.”

He will also discuss the need to “evolve or die”, amid the current wave of digital disruption.

Ceri Rogers, event director said Mcbride will teach “some invaluable lessons in not only how to survive the technological tsunami we are facing but how to thrive under the most challenging circumstances”.
