This year’s Christmas must-have toys

- By JANE BRADLEY

Harry Potter themed toys, a unicorn which poos after being fed and LOL Surprise goods are among the top 12 toys predicted to be this year’s most wanted Christmas presents for youngsters.

Barbie’s ‘Ultimate Kitchen’ and an interactive AI robot called Boxer – which has a personality and emotions – are also on the list.

However, it has emerged that “toy touts” have already snapped up some coveted Christmas toys and are selling them on auction sites for more than their original value as mainstream retailers already struggle to keep up with demand.

Dream Toys’ annual list is selected by a representative panel of retailers and industry experts.

Frederique Tutt, global analyst for The NPD Group’s toy division said: “2018 has been very disruptive for the toy industry globally.

“However, whilst retail is experiencing a transformation, more than £1.2 billion worth of toys will be sold this Christmas. We expect dolls, slime, Harry Potter, collectables and ‘unboxing’ toys to be on children’s lists.”

A new version of Monopoly based on hit computer game Fortnite, is also on the list of most wanted gifts.
