#BREXITDEAL

A Brexit breakthrough is hanging in the balance after negotiators in Brussels agreed a draft text of the UK’S divorce deal. The draft Withdrawal Agreement was immediately condemned by Theresa May’s critics on the Conservative backbenches, as well as her allies in the Democratic Unionist Party, adding to growing fears that the Commons could reject the deal and send the UK crashing out of the EU.

@jeremycorbyn tweeted: “Labour has been clear from the beginning that we need a deal to support jobs and the economy – and that guarantees standards and protections. If this deal doesn’t meet our six tests and work for the whole country, then we will vote against it.”

@Owenpaterson wrote: “Cabinet Ministers must remember that a proposed ‘deal’ must honour Manifesto pledges to Leave Single Market, Customs Union and remit of ECJ. Must not leave NI in any kind of separate arrangement from GB & must honour Belfast Agreement Principle of Consent & consult NI Assembly.”

@thomasbrake commented: “Be prepared for a barrage of reports claiming @theresa_may has negotiated a brilliant deal. She hasn’t. The deal will be much worse than EU membership and will leave us rule takers not rule makers. Only one way out: #Peoplesvote and #Exitfrombrexit.”

#NICOLASTURGEON

Nicola Sturgeon warned that if Scotland were not allowed to stay in Europe’s single market post-brexit it would be left competing for investment with a country which was “effectively” still part of the trading bloc.

@Phoenixxl wrote: “@Nicolasturgeon You should have gone with the referendum option after the Brexit vote. The EU would have come around to accepting an independent Scotland. Aberdeen could have been the largest port in the Isles & the biggest UK/EU border for import export.”

@Nowodin tweeted: “The SNP are screaming into an empty void of space.”

@Markcmcinnes commented: “A Scot speaking up for Scotland. Let the unquestioning unionists howl.”

@Cnicpetrat added: “The right words from #nicolasturgeon about #brexit #Nodealbrexit and all the rest of it.”
