Queen of the South A big positive
Despite wet conditions, Queens and Ayr played out a reasonably entertaining contest on Saturday. The defences stifled each side’s star man; Lawrence Shankland and Stephen Dobbie leaving the goalscoring to more unfamiliar names. From a Queens perspective, it was frustrating to again concede from a set-piece, but the resolve required to peg our hosts back and become the first team this season to leave Somerset Park with any points is a big positive. We now face a run of three season-defining home games. Victories over Inverness and Partick look vital to keep us in touch with the play-off spots, while progress in the Scottish Cup, sandwiched in between, will be key to filling the coffers ahead of the January window.
