DUP warns ‘consequences’
The leader of the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) has warned Theresa May that there will be “consequences” if the Prime Minister reneges on her promise not to allow Northern Ireland to be placed under a different set of trade regulations from the rest of the UK.
Arlene Foster said her party, whose ten MPS provide the Conservatives with a parliamentary majority, was “concerned about the narrative that has built up around the Prime Minister’s proposal”.
“We will make our own judgments, and we will certainly not be led by the
Irish government who have been aggressive in all of this,” Ms Foster said.
Last night the DUP leader was to meet Mrs May to be briefed on the draft Brexit deal.
