Buyer to paint over Banksy piece

-

An American artist paid $730,000 (£561,000) for a Banksy artwork – then vowed to whitewash it.

Slave Labour depicts a young child on his knees at a sewing machine producing a string of Union Jack bunting.

The artwork was painted on the side of a bargain store in Wood Green in 2012 and is believed to be a protest against sweatshops used to manufacture souvenirs for the London Olympics.

Slave Labour was sold by Julien’s Auctions and bought by American artist Ron English.
