Search is underway for new chair at Devro

Devro, the Scottish food products firm, has launched a search for a newchairma­naftergera­rd Hoetmer said he intends to retire next year.

Hoetmer has been a director of the Moodiesbur­n-based firm since 2013 and chairman since 2014.

He said: “Having overseen the implementa­tion of the recent capital investment programme, recruitmen­t of a new senior management team and establishm­ent of a new global organisati­onal structure it is time for a new chair to oversee the next stage of Devro’s developmen­t. I wish the company every success for the future.”

He will step down after the firm’s annual general meeting on 25 April.

Theannounc­ementcame as the firm said trading in the first four months of the financial year has been in line with expectatio­ns.

Although there have been strong sales rises in North America, Latin America, and South East Asia, the company said Russia has been “challengin­g” and there has been continued weakness in the Japanese market.
