Oscar-winning screenwriter dies

-

Michael Sheen was among those paying tribute to novelist and Oscar-winning screenwriter William Goldman, who has died at the age of 87, describing his work as a “gift”.

Goldman, the author behind Oscar-winning scripts Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and All The President’s Men, has died aged 87.

Goldman created Marathon Man and the beloved, subversive fairy tale The Princess Bride, both of which he adapted himself for the screen.

Major Hollywood names joined the tributes.
