#KENNYDALGLISH

Scottish football legend Sir Kenny Dalglish said he was ‘humbled’ to receive a knighthood for an outstanding football career and for supporting Liverpool through its darkest hour after the Hillsborough stadium disaster.

@ericthomas said: “Kenny Dalglish is now Sir Kenny. When was he downgraded from King?”

@smtm_lfc said: “Congratulations Sir Kenny Dalglish. One of the most deserving knighthoods I’ve ever known. Carried the club as a player, then manager, then counsellor and then manager again. He has done superb work for charity. An all round jolly decent chap.”

@dskanibt added: “When I saw Kenny Dalglish trending I thought he might have been called up for the Albania game.”

@Jamesclarkefive joked: “Compared to being The Greatest Player Ever to Pull on a Liverpool Shirt, it’s a minor honour – but nice nonetheless.”

#MICHAELGOVE

All eyes were on the Environment Secretary and whether he would worsen the Prime Minister’s position by resigning. He has decided to back the Withdrawal Agreement and stick with

the Cabinet – for now.

@Jgforsyth said: “Michael Gove is NOT resigning.”

@Westminsterwag said: “‘Michael Gove has left his house and gone somewhere.’ This made me laugh quite hard despite Brexit-induced migraine.”

@Harryslaststand added: Michael Gove is like the chancer that ingratiates himself to a distant dowager aunt in hopes of getting a handsome legacy in her will.”

@benonwine said: “Historic scenes unfolding at Downing Street as for the first time ever, somebody is pleased to see Michael Gove.”

#DAVIDHOCKNEY

British artist David Hockney’s Portrait of an Artist sold for £70 million, smashing the auction record for a living artist.

@nytimesarts said: “A sundrenched hilltop, a young man at a pool, gazing down at a swimmer unnoticing: David Hockney’s ‘Portrait of an Artist’ is one of his most mysterious works.”

@dan-lepard said: “Quite a thing that an openly gay living artist, David Hockney’s, painting depicting the angst and separation between two men is so highly valued at auction, indeed from the moment it was first sold. The beauty of the image is so strong.”
