I, aged five along with my two older sisters aged six and seven, entered Quarriers in 1957 after our father could not both work and look after us when our mother deserted us. We stayed for eight years. We suffered physical and emotional abuse for most of those years. Most of these house parents in our time were totally unfit to look after children.
