Retail chief awarded honorary title from University of Dundee

Fraserburg­h-born Morrice said he is looking forward to using his 30-plus years of experience in Scotland’s retail and wholesale sectors to support students at the university’s School of Business. Morrice, who is former vice-chair of Scottish Enterprise Grampian, said: “I’ve been lucky that right through my career, I’ve had mentors or people who have inspired me and driven me on. Now I want to give something back and help University of Dundee’s business students be the best that they can be.”

● Independen­t commercial law firm Davidson Chalmers has recruited Laura Irvine as its 11th partner to head up its newly launched regulatory team. She joins from BTO Solicitors where she was a partner. Data protection and cyber security specialist Irvine, who wrote the Law Society of Scotland’s Guide to GDPR published earlier this year, is also a director of the Scottish Business Resilience Centre. ● Neale Tosh, an associate based in legal firm DWF’S Glasgow office, has been admitted by the Law Society of Scotland as a solicitor advocate at a ceremony at the Court of Session in Edinburgh last week. The appointmen­t will allow him to represent DWF’S clients in the Court of Session, Supreme Court of the United Kingdom and the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council. He will now be able to support DWF’S clients who require representa­tion in Scotland’s highest courts.

● Investment management and financial planning group Tilney has appointed Neil Joss as a senior investment manager. He will join the company’s Glasgow office from Smith & Williamson where he previously as an operations manager and most recently as an investment manager. Prior to this he was a manager at Gerrard Investment Management.
