Win lets Campbell sit back and relax

Arbroath manager Dick Campbell, pictured, began his eight-match touchline ban by watching his table-topping side cruise to a 5-1 success at Brechin City.

The Gayfield men hit the front when David Gold headed in after eight minutes and Bobby Linn added their second after a solo run 40 minutes later.

Michael Mckenna also scored a solo effort before Ryan Wallace and Jason Thomson added further goals with City’s Ryan Mcgeever grabbed a late consolatio­n. Assistant manager Ian Campbell said: “I am sure that Dick enjoyed watching that from the stand.”

Raith Rovers remain second after their 3-1 success at Stenhousem­uir,

where Daniel Armstrong headed the Kirkcaldy men in front after 11 minutes and then sealed their success late on with a curling effort. In-between Armstrong’s goals, Callum Crane slid home a second forrovers with the Warriors responding through Mark Mcguigan.

Airdrie came from two goals down to defeat a visiting East Fife who had Kevin Smith to thank for their goals in a 4-2 defeat. The Diamonds grabbed a lifeline when Sean Crighton nodded in just before the break with Darryl Duffy’s penalty restoring parity. Kyle Wilkie shot Airdrie ahead via the woodwork and Duffy secured the win four minutes from time.

Forfar saw off injury-hit visitors Dumbarton 3-0 at Station Park, with Darren Whyte, John Baird and Mark Hill scoring in the second half.

Montrose and Stranraer drew 1-1 at Links Park where Martin Rennie edged the Gable Endies in front before Jamie Hamill’s late leveller.
