Albion sink deeper into trouble

-

Albion Rovers slipped seven points adrift at the foot of League 2 after going down 2-0 at Berwick Rangers but recently appointed manager Kevin Harper reckons that his Coatbridge side can move up.

Berwick took the lead on 33 minutes when Daryl Healy drilled in from six yards and it was 2-0 midway through the second half when Paul Willis swept home a penalty. Harper said: “I have confidence that we can get out of this.”

Clyde moved closer to the top two with a 3-1 win at Elgin where David Goodwillie fired the Bully Wee in front from the penalty spot after 14 minutes. Craig Beattie headed into his own net to make it 2-0 and, 18 minutes later, Elgin’s Jon-paul Mcgovern was red-carded. Ally Love headed in a third with ten minutes left and Shane Sutherland grabbed a late consolation.

Annan remain fourth despite a 2-2 draw with Stirling Albion. Tony Wallace nodded in to give the hosts the lead on 20 minutes but Dylan Mackin restored parity after the restart. Annan’s Ryan Sinnamon scored from 20 yards before Dom Docherty tied the game.
