Miner BHP ends Oz tax dispute

Mining giant BHP Billiton has ended a longrunning dispute with the Australian taxman over the sale of raw materials through an offshore entity. The agreement revealed yesterday with the Australian Tax Office (ATO) covers a dispute stretching back to 2003 and will see BHP fork out A$529 million (£368m) covering the period from 2003 to 2018.
