Aberdeen A picture of inequality

- Steve Wilson

The disparity between how Scottish and English football is treated by the TV companies was never more obvious than during the contract discussions this week. With Sky paying five times more for coverage of the English lower leagues compared to the Scottish Premiership, the impression they have little regard for us is not hard to hold. That impression strengthens when you see their announcement with a picture of just Rangers and Celtic and becomes almost cement-like with reports circulating of the games they have contracted to show. Of the 48 games; all away games of Rangers and Celtic (19 each) along with the four Edinburgh derbies will be shown. This leaves just six games a season for the other eight teams in the league. Hard to think of this being in the game’s best interests.
