A TV watershed for alcohol adverts and compulsory health labelling on products could be brought in under Scottish Government plans.

If they honestly think banning alcohol ads before 9pm will help I worry for them. To presume that youngsters that will be attracted to alcohol are all tucked up in bed with telly off by 9pm is laughable.

Banning cigarette advertisin­g, putting health warnings on the packaging and increasing the price have all had an effect in

reducing either the number of smokers or reducing the amount that people smoke. There is no reason to suggest that similar measures with alcohol wouldn’t have the same effect.
