A plea for humanity: Migrants demonstrate amid push for US asylum

-

A boy taking part in a caravan of mostly Honduran migrants moving towards the United States in hopes of a better life is seen during a demonstration to ask US authorities to allow them to apply for asylum.

The demonstration was staged in El Chaparral, Tijuana, in the Baja California State of Mexico yesterday. US president Donald Trump renewed his attacks on the judiciary on Thursday, accusing judges of making the country unsafe as he fanned a bitter row over asylum seekers on the Us-mexico border.

The mayor of Tijuana has declared a humanitarian crisis in his border city. Juan Manuel Gastelum said he had asked the United Nations for aid to deal with about 5,000 Central American migrants.
