Deal netted?
Prime Minister Theresa May has pledged that the interests of Scotland’s fishermen will be protected after Brexit despite being accused of using the industry as a “bargaining chip” in the negotiations.
Bertie Armstrong, chief executive of the Scottish Fishermen’s Federation, said: “The declaration gives the UK the power to assert its position as an independent coastal state with practical sovereignty over our waters.” Surely that is something even nationalists can understand. Maybe not.
Soracte
Not from Tory supporter Bertie Armstrong.

Let’s just remember some basic facts! The SNP want to take an independent Scotland back into the EU, with all of its consequences: Common Fisheries Policy, the euro, Germany and France telling us what we have to do instead of London, etc. Personally, I am a convinced remainer. It’s ludicrous to leave the EU and negotiate a worse situation globally than to stay and have a voice and vote.

The Scottish Fishermen’s Federation gave the plan a cautious welcome, but the First Minister said it amounted to a “Tory sellout”.
Scotland the Great, in Britain
The SNP support a people’s vote, the SNP want to remain in the EU, the SNP therefore want continuing adherence to the CFP. Why should the white fishing industry, which accounts for less than 1% of Scotland’s GDP, be prioritised over other sectors of our economy eg shellfish, which could face trade barriers, or whisky exporters?
Oil is a Bonus
Semantics. This is only a draft document. Let’s wait and find out the terms of the final agreement.
