London Stock Exchange chief set to address Scottish business leaders
The chief executive of the London Stock Exchange is to give the keynote speech at a major business event being staged in Glasgow next month.
Nikhil Rathi will speak at the annual Scottish business address being staged by the Scottish Chambers of Commerce at the city’s Hilton Hotel on 6 December. The event will bring together business leadersandpoliticiansfromacross Scotland with First Minister Nicola Sturgeon among the other speakers.
Tim Allan, president of Scottish Chambers of Commerce, said Rathi is one of the most prominent figures in the UK business community.
“His insight into global business trends and international tradeopportunitiesareunparalleled, and coupled with the First Minister’s commitment to economic growth, the event is set to offer outstanding opportunities for businesses to connect and grow,” he said.
Rathi, who is also head of international development for the wider London Stock Exchange group, said: “I very much look forward to sharing my thoughts on the Scottish success stories in global capital markets and the exciting opportunities that lie ahead for Scottish entrepreneurs.”
Rathi joined the London Stock Exchange group in 2015 from the UK Treasury, where he held a number of senior positions over an 11-year period.
His last role there was as director of the Financial Services Group, representing the UK government’s financial services interests in the EU and internationally.
Rathi also served as private secretary to the UK Prime Minister’s office from 2005 to 2008.
Businesses including Babcock, Barrhead Travel, Calmac, Royal Bank of Scotland, Scotrail and Glasgow Airport will be attending this year’s event.
