The Scottish Government must use Holyrood’s new welfare powers to lift tens of thousands of youngsters out of poverty, Labour leader Richard Leonard has said.

@wishawcross stated: “FM offers Richard Leonard a constructive discussion on the Scottish budget if he comes forward not just with demands for spending but with answers for where the money would come from.”

@Owenthompson said: “Think somebody needs to tell Richard Leonard that it’s councils who decide the budgets for their local schools, and Labour control more councils in Scotland than any other group.”

@Hyvast wrote: “Richard Leonard leader of the declining Labour Party in Scotland bawling his head off like 1970s Trade Union wrecker demanding more money to be spent on areas where his activists are firing up strike threats, but fails to state where the money should come from.”

The Question Time audience broke into gasps after Conservative politician Karen Bradley said that austerity wasn’t a choice made by the Tory government.

@Babssheking said: “Dimbleby made sure to give the last word to Karen Bradley so she could say there are fewer children in poverty than before. i.e. publicly trash the #Unvisit2018 report. Did BBC factcheck? No. Giving the last word to her was blatant gaslighting @ bbcquestiontime.”

@shahil95 tweeted: “Tory MP Karen Bradley is on #bbcqt once claimed more than £600 of expenses to treat herself to a dictaphone. Austerity for us, the many, but not for her, the few. Pass it on.”

@recyclaire was angered by the MP’S words: “Karen Bradley MP also said that ‘the British people have worked hard’. I shouted at the TV that the British people have had austerity forced upon them, and are hungry, homeless and dying because of it. She calls it hard work; I call it #Modernslavery.”

#DRIVERLESSBUSES

Scots commuters will be the first in the UK to travel on driverless buses when a pilot scheme is introduced to run vehicles over the Forth Road Bridge

@Snowy273 isn’t enamoured with the idea: “Driverless buses. Over a bridge. What could possibly go wrong?”
