Nuclear benefits

-

We may remember an “outraged” Alex Salmond a year or two ago signing with a flourish in front of the TV cameras a letter to the United Kingdom government complaining that he had not been informed of a “serious” incident at Dounreay

It turned out that this had in fact been reported to the relevant agency of the Scottish government, the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency, and that SEPA had considered it of insufficient import to merit further action.

At First Minister’s Questions on 22 November, Nicola Stur-

made the ridiculous statement that each of 500 reported incidents over the years at Faslane could have had disastrous consequences. Apparently just two of these might have led to some release of radioactivity but actually didn’t.

Nuclear power and defence and the large number of jobs they bring to Scotland are of great importance. Don’t they deserve discussion above the level of a “ban-the-bomb” teenager ?
