A flagship visitor centre dedicated to Johnnie Walker whisky has been earmarked for the former House of Fraser store on Edinburgh’s Princes Street.

Whisky shop – seems pretty apt for “Scotland leading the world” in alcoholism.

Weescunner.

Scotland does not lead the world in alcoholism. Try Russia.

Young Reekie ... but I thought that the SNP would not approve of this as in their minds it must promote drinking alcohol. After all, except in the Holyrood bar, of course, where drinks are subsidised, we, the public, now have to pay more to purchase booze.

Proud2bescots A brilliant idea but it is one heck of a big building to be used for this one purpose. I hope a large part of the space is not allowed to lie empty, but I’m sure that if they are paying full market rent that will make sure they make the most of it. A better proposed use than luxury apartments and the even more dreadful proposal of a flagship store for Sports Direct.

Esox Hunter Holiday apartments obviously with that view on to the castle. They have to get them in under the radar though, playing to this greedy council’s soft spot – the ‘tourist dollar’.
