- By EMMA NEWLANDS

An Aberdeen global energy consultancy has strengthened its decommissioning team, complementing a “successful” year for the department that has seen it net work worth £2 million.

Xodus Group has hired Gareth Jones, a principal consultant and project manager, as decom lead. He will be responsible for advising and supporting operators in relation to environmental and societal impacts associated with decommissioning.

Jones joins from BMT Cordah, where he led the company’s global decommissioning activities.

Previously, he was a marine ecologist with Marine Scotland, providing advice and support in relation to commercial fisheries and marine fish species for oil and gas, renewables and infrastructure projects. He will be based at Xodus’ Aberdeen office.

He will work closely with decommissioning director Enrico Salardi, who has recently relocated to the UK from the firm’s Australian operation.

Xodus’ decom division has undertaken more than 100 decommissioning projects, ranging from merger-andacquisition due diligence and commercial advice, to training and detailed planning and approvals for decom execution. It has expanded its remit to include well-abandonment and decommissioning strategic support.

Salardi added: “We are also becoming more and more active in other regions… Our team has a wealth of experience in the North Sea and this knowledge brings huge value to other key regions.” 0 Xodus Group has named Gareth Jones decom lead
