Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko is attempting to impose martial law after Russia fired on and seized three of its ships in the Azov Sea. Russia says they were crossing its waters illegally. The National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine,

@NSDC_UA, tweeted: “The NSDC will consider the issue of declaring the state of martial law as proposed by the Military Cabinet. ‘Russia’s military’s attack on the ships of the Ukrainian Naval Forces is nothing but an act of military aggression’ - Turchynov.”

@Christopherjm posted: “Amazing. @radiosvoboda reporter says there may not be enough support to pass martial law bill because there aren’t enough MPS currently in parliament. Many having trouble getting there because of snowy weather. (If only the roads were better cleared, eh?).”

@Artyomtonoyan tweeted: “Poroshenko made clear to emphasize that Martial Law does not mean a declaration of war against Russia, but it will place limitations on the movement of Ukrainian nationals. To be imposed nationwide.”

@Jeremy_hunt tweeted: “The UK utterly condemns Russia’s use of force against Ukrainian vessels entering the Sea of Azov. Once again, we see Russian CONTEMPT for international norms and Ukrainian sovereignty. Russia must release detained Ukrainian sailors and guarantee free passage through Kerch Straits.”

#BREXIT

Theresa May addressed the House of Commons on her Brexit deal yesterday.

@andybell5news tweeted: “There is no deal without a backstop and without a backstop there is no deal – new catchphrase from May.”

Robert @Peston wrote: “Amazing that – yet again – we are 45 minutes in

& still not a single voice, from any party, including Tories, backing @theresa_ may’s Brexit deal. Even ultra loyalist Michael Fallon now puts the boot in – ‘is it really wise to trust future of our economy to use ‘best endeavours’?”

@martinsaxby added: “Sadly @theresa_may has united the country on one thing. No one on either side truly believes this #brexit deal to be a good deal.”

@oxcheekrinser was angered: “This is not a deal the public want! You betrayed Brexit by not making a clean break. You will lose millions of voters.”
