Warriors rest Scotland stars for Europe

- By DAVID BARNES

Glasgow Warriors will be without their leading internationalists when they take on the Scarlets at Scotstoun on Saturday.

Assistant coach Kenny Murray confirmed yesterday that the players who played frequently during Scotland’s Autumn Test schedule (including Stuart Hogg, Tommy Seymour, Huw Jones, Pete Horne, Adam Hastings, Ryan Wilson, Jonny Gray and Fraser Brown) are set to be rested before returning for the first leg of the team’s European Champions Cup double-header away to Lyon seven days later

Other members of the international set-up who didn’t play regularly or at all (such as Lee Jones, Nick Grigg, Rob Harley and George Turner) will be available.

“Some of the Scotland boys will come in and some will have time off,” said Murray. “The guys who have played a lot – three or four games – will get a rest this week but some guys will come back in who have been in the fringe. We will maybe have an opportunity to rest them later.

“It will be the same for the Scarlets, I would imagine. They will return some of their boys who did not play, Rhys Patchell did not play last weekend, so he will probably play. I imagine they will be pretty strong.”
