Woman dies in hillwalking accident
A woman has died and her daughter is in hospital following a hillwalking incident in the Highlands.
A mountain rescue operation was launched after a member of the public reported concerns for a woman who had been seen on a path leading from the Lairig Eilde car park towards Buachaille Etive Beag in Glen Coe around 9:30am on Monday.
The body of another woman aged 52 was found a short distance away from the missing person. Both women were recovered by helicopter and taken to Fort William. The first woman, understood to be the 52-year-old’s daughter, was taken to Belford Hospital, where her condition is described as stable.
It is believed the daughter became ill and her mother fell when she went for help.
