It’s a family affair says NFUS

- By BRIAN HENDERSON

Much has been said in recent times about helping maintain the traditional family farm – and NFU Scotland yesterday revealed that it was putting its money where its mouth bership benefits to the whole family.

The union’s chief executive, Scott Walker, said the new Family Membership would allow members to add partners and children to their membership – free of charge.

“As a union we recognise that farming and crofting is very much a family affair with many businesses handed down through generations,” said Walker.

“It feels right that all the family in the business from partners to children can enjoy the benefits of NFUS as much as the named subscription payer.”

He said the move meant

that everyone from the wife, husband, business partners and children could make the most of the benefits of being a member of NFU Scotland.

Registering for family membership would allow all involved in a farm business to attend union meetings, receive information by email and text and to be invited to events at which they would be welcome to give their views and opinions.

“They will also receive an electronic copy of the Scottish

Farming Leader membership magazine. And of course, they can benefit from the many member discounts NFU Scotland has with over 30 partners,” said Walker.

He added that the change would allow the union to build on the wider demographic, covering all who were actively involved in the farming business:

“And this will help to strengthen our voice when we go about our daily work of representing our members.”
