Neymar and Mbappe fit to face Liverpool

-

Paris St-germain’s star duo of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe are fit to face Liverpool tonight in a Champions League clash crucial to both clubs’ hopes of progression.

PSG are third in Group C on five points, one behind the Reds and Napoli, and if they were to lose at home against Jurgen Klopp’s side and their Serie A rivals were to beat Red Star Belgrade they would not be able to progress to the knockout phase.

The return of Neymar and Mbappe, both injured on international duty, is therefore a huge boost to coach Thomas Tuchel.

“Neymar is 100 per cent and Mbappe as well. They are fit and they will be in the lineup,” said the German, dismissing suggestions there was any risk in playing them tonight. “If they were not fit they could not play. They didn’t complain yesterday or today [in training] and for me right now there is no risk.”

Liverpool boss Klopp insists his side are in Paris to win after their defeat by Red Star opened up the group. Klopp said: “We are here to win, we don’t go for a specific result. It is a tough one to come to Paris and get a result. Two very ambitious teams will face each other in an interesting situation in the group because we brought Belgrade back in [to contention].

“The more difficult it is the more I enjoy the preparation.”
