Skelly makes it safe for Fifers
Cowdenbeath continued their climb towards mid-table respectability with a 2-0 win over Queen’s Park last night.
The hosts’ Robbie Deas hit the bar with a header on 20 minutes, and queens responded moments later with a Jamie Mckernon drive that just climbed over the Fifers’ goal.
The Blue Brazil got their noses in front at Central Park six minutes into the second half when Kris Renton forced the ball in from close range.
Lewis Hawke and trialist Alan Gow both squandered chances to equalise when they fired over, before Cowdenbeath secured all three points when Josh Skelly lashed home from the edge of the box with nine minutes remaining.
Queens were denied a consolation goal when Hawke again fired over late on.
