#ISTANDWITHHARRY

Tributes pour in for Second World War veteran and activist Harry Leslie Smith (@Harryslaststand), who has died at the age of 95.

@jeremycorbyn tweeted: “We will all miss Harry Leslie Smith – he was one of the giants whose shoulders we stand on. A World War Two veteran who dedicated his life to fighting for our National Health Service, a peaceful world and for countries to meet their moral responsibility by welcoming refugees.”

@iconbooks said: “We’re heartbroken to hear of Harry Leslie Smith’s passing. He was a brilliant polemicist and author, an inspiring activist, a loving father, and much more. Icon were incredibly proud to publish two of his books. The world is far poorer without him. #Istandwithharry”

@Jenniegensec added: “The best tribute we can pay to this remarkable, warm, inspirational man is to continue his relentless fight for justice.

“RIP Harry.”

@Rachael_swindon added: “Put Harry Leslie Smith on the new £50 note.”

#PMQS

There was only one topic being discussed at Prime Minister’s Questions before Theresa May jetted north to Scotland on her Brexit tour. Tommy Sheppard MP @ Tommysheppard observed: “Some unhappy-looking cabinet faces for #PMQS today. The chancellor hasn’t even turned up. Expect he’s on a naughty step somewhere after this morning’s admission that there’s no good #Brexit.” @danbloom1 tweeted: “Not a bad line from Corbyn at PMQS: ‘It’s not hard to be the best deal if it’s the only deal. By definition, it’s also the worst deal!’ #PMQS.” Darren Jones MP wasn’t happy. @darrenpjones :“Ido wonder why I bother coming to PMQS when the PM just reads a pre-prepared script instead of answering any questions at all. #PMQS #Brexitshambles.”

#MARGARETATWOOD

@Sharonfarrowbb wondered: “But where to shelve it? Fiction or nonfiction? The way things are going”

@spencerbarrett added: “Margaret Atwood is writing a sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale, which will likely be titled ‘America in 2018’.”
