Chilling thought

Good news that fracking has made the US the world’s top oil producer. But fracking is not for us in Scotland, as we rely on wind and sun for energy, and apparently will soon not even need oil or gas or nuclear.

Our part-time electricity will be expensive and shortages may make it dark and cold, but we lead the world in CO2 reduction to save the planet.

So let us just huddle round our smart meters and have family fun by betting on when the electricity will next go on or off. Isn’t it just great to be a world leader in something? MALCOLM PARKIN Kinnesswood, Kinross
