Partick Thistle Away from it all

-

With Thistle having no game last weekend, it allowed Gary Caldwell a chance to spend more time working with the players before Saturday’s game at Queen of the South. For me, it was a chance to get away for some sunshine and sample some Spanish third division football. On Sunday, I went to watch UD Lanzarote play CF Pulido and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality. As with most games at that level, the game was played on an artificial pitch but you can see the technique that the players have. The game turned on a couple of moments of magic – An absolute worldy from Lanzarote’s No 7 (mini-messi) and a brilliant penalty save from the home side’s keeper. The most I’ve enjoyed a game in two years.
