La Clique Noel – Part Deux

December has only just arrived, but Edinburgh’s Christmas has already found one of its brightest stars in the shape of Bernie Dieter, the glittering black-clad mistress of ceremonies at La Clique’s burlesque show in Festival Square. Perhaps it’s the apocalyptic zeitgeist, but Dieter seems on fire this year as she leads the audience through a string of fierce cabaret numbers and sexuallycharged antics, with Dannie Bourne’s six-piece band in brilliant support. “I know a place at the end of the world,” she growls; and the show also offers superb aerial work, swordswallowing and fire-eating.
