BOROUGHMUIR 29 GLASGOW HAWKS 12
Boroughmuir head coach Peter Wright wants his side to keep up their recent good run heading into the Christmas break following Saturday’s home victory over Glasgow Hawks, writes Gary Heatly.
The relatively straightforward 29-12 win at Meggetland was their third Tennent’s Premiership triumph in a row and leaves them six points off the top four and a play-off spot.
Before the action stops
for the festivities, they play Watsonians away on Saturday and then host Edinburgh Accies on 15 December.
And Wright feels his side have more complete performances in them. “We showed a lot of quality in the first half, but then we just had a loss of concentration in the second,” he said. “Now we need to keep up the momentum in the runin to Christmas.”
For Boroughmuir the frontrow of Ross Dunbar, Johnny Matthews and Ryan Montgomery led the way and got them on the front foot.
In the end loosehead prop Dunbar scored two tries with
hooker Matthews, the skipper, bagging one.
The Glasgow side are ninth in the table with just two wins from 12 and for the majority of this game they could not keep hold of the ball and build any sort of phases.
Tries from lock Tom Drennan and Dunbar came in the first half hour, and when Matthews scored his 13th league try of the season from a driving maul to make it 22-0 in the 32nd minute it was all one way traffic.
Hawks managed two tries, from full-back Josh Henderson and a late consolation through Cameron Symes.
