Firefighters rescue rhino from city Zoo
A young rhino nearly died after getting his head stuck in a tyre - before being cut free by heroic firefighters.
Adventurous rhino Qabid, aged three, got his head and leg stuck in a tyre in an enclosure at Edinburgh Zoo and was trapped for nearly two hours.
Keepers called out the fire service as a “last hope” just before 6pm on Sunday - and specialised cutting equipment was used to save the animal’s life.
Darren Mcgarry, head of living collections at Edinburgh Zoo, said: “The tyre was safely removed and Qabid is doing fine.”
