#FOODBANK
Scottish Tory MP Ross Thomson was slated over a tweet in which he was pictured posing with a food bank donation while meeting volunteers for the Trussell Trust, which coordinates food banks nationwide. The Conservative Government has refused to accept a link between the rise in the use of food banks and the imposition of austerity.
@johnohopkins posted: “Using Tory-inflicted poverty for a photo opportunity. How low can you go.”
@Cricklewoodmum added: “If you have to make a donation to a food bank as an MP, you failed. Use your position to make the necessary changes so we don’t need food banks. Ever.”
@Lauraleedavies exclaimed: “The Tories caused this human crisis. How about ‘donating’ some compassion and ending austerity policies?”
#BREXIT
Theresa May appeared on ITV’S popular This Morning magazine show yesterday to face questions over her Brexit deal, declaring that she would still be in a job in a fortnight’s time. The Prime Minister faces a vote on her agreement on 11 December. @Jasonreiduk tweeted: “Phillip Schofield (without the gopher) interviewing Theresa May on This Morning better than most of the political interviewers; WHO KNEW?! Watch your back Peston.” @Wa_comms added: “Perhaps not the cushy interview Number 10 expected...” @sophoftheyear pointed out: “Someone in my seminar just referred to #Brexit as ‘economic self harm’.”
#GEORGEHWBUSH
George HW Bush’s spokesperson shared an image of the former president’s service dog, Sully, with the words “mission complete”. George HW Bush died on Friday. @ryanlhonick applauded: “The bond between a service dog and their handler is unique. They’re not only family, they are extensions of us and we are lucky as hell to have them. They help us lead fuller and more independent lives. So fitting for #Georgebush to experience that given his legacy with the Americans with Disabilities Act.”
@Julietmacur noted: “Sully, will accompany Bush’s casket to DC and then will be reassigned to work with a wounded service member. Good dog.”
