Shut talking shop

-

Debating is in the news at the moment. Maybe regular columnists would like to begin a debate about Holyrood. This assembly was formed after a referendum. Its purpose was to administer devolved matters on behalf of Westminster for the good of the Scottish people.

Let us look at it now. An expensive building full of wellpaid people. Free or subsidised bars, restaurants and even a gym. We have MSPS straight out of school and university with no life experience pontificating on our behalf. We have a protest party in charge propped up by the Greens, another protest party who without the list system would not have gained one seat.

No longer working with Westminster, they wage a never-ending war with them and any failings in Scotland are answered by “it is better than England”. The Presiding Officer allows debates outwith their legal remit, wasting precious time. The SNP have made up more Cabinet posts, meaning more members on inflated salaries.

The most ridiculous one is regarding foreign aid. This is not a devolved issue and aid on our behalf is dispensed by Westminster. The FM demands, is outraged, whines, moans and generally has tantrums.

There is no working with Westminster on our behalf as this would not suit her agenda for independence built on grievance.

I wonder if we had a referendum now on shutting this expensive talking shop, how many of us would vote Yes.
