40-1 shot Third Wind blows hot

-

Hughie Morrison left with more than he bargained for on a rare visit to Plumpton as Third Wind made a winning return to action in the Silly Moo Sussex Cider Maiden Hurdle.

Arriving at the Sussex track more in hope than expectation, the East Ilsley trainer had a pleasant surprise when the four-year-old defied his 40-1 starting price as a fourlength winner of the extended two-and-a-half-mile opener under Tom O’brien.

“We came here for a day out, and with zero expectations,” said Morrison.

“We thought he was okay, because he ran quite well in a bumper last year.

“He was disappointing at Warwick in April, but something was definitely amiss that day.

“It is well done to everybody at home.”
