Life saver: Service issues Christmas blood appeal as 470 donors a day needed to meet demand

Jemma Mcsheffery, 23, at the Glasgow Donor Centre as the Scottish National Blood Transfusio­n Service, launches a festive appeal for blood donors. The service said 470 people need to give blood every day this month to meet demand over the Christmas holidays. The aim is to maintain a five to seven-day supply of each of the eight different blood groups at all times. New donors are wanted.
