Silversmith: German metal worker chosen for Glenmorangie Commission
German-born Simone ten Hompel, a silversmith of international repute, has been announced as the winner of the Glenmorangie Commission. Leading artists and designers working with silver were invited to submit proposals for the commission and Ms Hompel will work closely with archaeologists researching early medieval collections that will result in a new contemporary work of art in silver. She is pictured with the Skaill hoard from the collections of the National Museum of Scotland.
