The First Minister has been named alongside the Prime Minister on the Forbes Most Powerful Women 2018 list. Mrs May is second, after Angela Merkel, with Nicola Sturgeon taking 45th spot.

[Sturgeon] is 45th. How on earth is that alongside the number 2, Theresa May? That is like saying Albion Rovers listed alongside Celtic as wealthiest football clubs, AR being about 40 places behind. Headline should read: “Sturgeon lags way behind May in most powerful women in the world list”.

She might be named on the list and I am not trying to demean her but she is ranked 45th with Merkel 1st and May in 2nd. Not something to shout about is it.

May’s fame will be measured in days, hopefully culminating in a custodial sentence for working against her own citizens on behalf of a foreign power.

Alf Millar The Forbes’ Most Powerful Women 2018 list aims to show the leading “builders, disruptors, and innovators in every sector”. Well, I can understand her being on that list, although she should be 1st as the major DISRUPTOR.

eecc What are the criteria for most powerful women in the world in this? I suspect it’s probably more to do with pay and the number of hits a Google search of their name returns. It certainly isn’t based or real power, her parliament are screeching about a power grab on some powers one second, then not wanting others the next.

Fergy Smiley ‘Powerful’? She has a few more powers than a regional councillor or city mayor, yet her half-baked “government” can’t even manage the powers it has. Those ranked higher than 45 must include the lady in charge of the refreshment trolley on the Glasgow Edinburgh train and the manageress of my local Co-op.
